On the 27th April 2018 Goodswens Solicitors joined the Coles family as our 11th Office, with both Tony Eastwood and Mike Boyes joining the team along with Lorna Smith and all of the other staff with the firm at that time.
Goodswens began around 1953, founded by David Goodswen, a son of the famous Redcar Butchery family. The firm expanded to include offices in Middlesbrough and Guisborough, until those branch offices became independent firms in their own right.
At one time Barbara Soulsby (later Crossan) was a solicitor in the firm but went to work in Helmsley with her husband, whose firm was later absorbed into Shirtcliffes which later formed the basis of our Thirsk office. Graham Brown and Craig Beer were also partners in the firm in the mid 1980s until they left to establish Brown Beer the fantastically named criminal practice. Goodswens has served the people of Redcar and East Cleveland well for over 65 years and Coles are proud to have been able to acquire a firm with such a widely held respect and recognition. Shortly after the acquisition, Coles, incorporating Goodswens, as we are known in Redcar, relocated to new offices at 54 Station Rd, a bright new home for the next stage of our development.

In 2018 we acquired the business of Goodswens Solicitors who have served the people of Redcar since the 1950s. Our first seaside location and our eleventh office sees our strength across the Tees Valley grow further.
